Club History
The idea started with a few Rotary Clubs and an ambitious Rotaract Member from the Peninsula Club, Kirra Pickering. Kirra organized a BBQ at the Wilson Botanical Gardens for potential Rotaractors to meet and get to know each other and more about the work Rotaract and Rotary do.
The first official meeting was planned for April 29th 2014, and consisted of 13 people attending. Growing as a club, members learnt how meetings and the club were run with the help of Kirra, other Rotaractors and Rotarians. Starting as the Provisional Rotaract Club of Casey-Cardinia, the club elected its first Board Members for the July 2014 to June 2015 Rotaract Year.
After fulfilling Rotary International requirement, we had a charter lunch with local Rotary and Rotaract Club members, politicians and other dignitaries. The club was chartered on February 15th 2015 at the Cardinia Cultural Centre, marking the official birth of the club. Our members at the time of charter, known as the club’s “Charter Members”. In June of 2015 the club then became an Incorporated Association, c the process of becoming a club. The club was first led by Charter: President Ben Hill, Vice-President Matt Carswell, Secretary Rachel Caulfield and Treasurer Nathan Meuwly.
